Synopsis :

Kisah Gadis is a double bill of plays, which takes a look at the lives of two women, as they pause to reflect on their life's journey so far, and contemplate the future.

Featuring:

Mangli

How do you give life to someone who's already dead?At a bus stop, Idayu Sa'ayah meets her old friend from matriculation college, Aris Mat Tam, after years without any news. A series of events forces them to be in each others company, long after the conversation veered from being pleasant. Idayu begins to discover a very different Aris from the college classmate she once knew. Eventually she finds herself struggling to save someone on the verge of psychological suicide. Directed by Megat Sharizal, performed by Ashraf Zain and Tuan Faisal, and written by Adiwijaya.

*In Bahasa Malaysia.

~Gadis Jalan Burmah

The world keeps telling her that she is running out of time, but 42-year-old Kartini Shuib thinks otherwise. On her birthday, while trying to bake her own birthday cake, she contemplates whether or not to go out with an insurance salesman Kassim Rahman, upon the suggestion of her mother. But then, memories of a Chinese pilot, a Doktor Haiwan from UPM, an American expat and her Mak Long Piah return to haunt her. What does it all mean? Or does it mean nothing and that the world is actually right – that she is running out of time? Directed by Megat Sharizal, performed by Sherry Abdullah and written by Shahredza Minhat.

*In Bahasa Malaysia and English.

~This double bill is the second installment of The Actors Studio’s Teater Rakyat programme.

There's subtitles during the plays. I've never been to plays with subtitles.

It's in Pentas 2 so it's free seating. And the stairs are horrible. But I'm still going though.
